Our Coaches

The future of our club rests on the shoulders of our Coaches! These are the people who dedicate themselves to the development of our players. Possibly one of the most rewarding ways of spending 2 hours of their week, our coaches love what they do - and our club fosters a culture of continuing development.

Meet our coaching team. If you would like to see your name among those listed below - contact our Club Secretary via email at secretary@bondiphoenix.com.au to find out what is involved and the support we offer to those keen to contribute in this way!

Cathy Hansen - Senior Coach

Cathy has been playing netball since the age of 9 and started her coaching career about 5 years ago. She lives and breathes netball, most days of the week and is a huge Giants and Diamonds fan and you know every home game, she'll be there. She believes that team sports for children is such an important part of their development, so whilst they improve their skill of the game, they also develop other skills such as leadership, being part of team, sacrifice and building self-confidence.

Cathy aims to instil her passion for the game into everyone she meets, whether it be playing, coaching or umpiring. She is certified in senior first aid and is usually first on the court when someone is injured.

She is embarking on a new career as a high school teacher, whilst she continues her work as Procurement Professional and somehow manages to fit in study for a third degree in Educational Studies.... and did we mention raising her 17 year old daughter Caitlin?

In the UK, Beckie was a B}PE teacher for 11 years in a secondary school in Leeds, West Yorkshire. During this time, she volunteered as Secretary of the Leeds Schools Netball Association and on the selection committee for the junior squads. Within her club, Farsley Celtic, she coached both the 1st and 2nd senior team as well as played for many years and worked alongside England Netball to set up a junior squad.
