Our Coaches

The future of our club rests on the shoulders of our Coaches! These are the people who dedicate themselves to the development of our players. Possibly one of the most rewarding ways of spending 2 hours of their week, our coaches love what they do - and our club fosters a culture of continuing development.

Meet our coaching team. If you would like to see your name among those listed below - contact our Club Secretary via email at secretary@bondiphoenix.com.au to find out what is involved and the support we offer to those keen to contribute in this way!

Cathy Hansen - Senior Coach

Cathy has been playing netball since the age of 9 and started her coaching career about 5 years ago. She lives and breathes netball, most days of the week and is a huge Giants and Diamonds fan and you know every home game, she'll be there. She believes that team sports for children is such an important part of their development, so whilst they improve their skill of the game, they also develop other skills such as leadership, being part of team, sacrifice and building self-confidence. Cathy is also the Coaches Convenor for Bondi Phoenix so if you are keen to start coaching please email her at cathy@bondiphoenix.com.au

Cathy aims to instil her passion for the game into everyone she meets, whether it be playing, coaching or umpiring. Cathy is the Junior Umpires Convenor for Bondi Phoenix and is keen to develop anyone who's interested in gaining this skill, it's never as easy as it seems. Cathy is certified in senior first aid and is usually first on the court when someone is injured.

She is embarking on a new career as a high school teacher, whilst she continues her work as Procurement Professional and somehow manages to fit in study for a third degree in Educational Studies.... and did we mention raising her 17 year old daughter Caitlin?

Sophie was a volunteer coach for an under 13’s St Christopher’s team for 2 years back in Melbourne. Playing netball 4 times a week caused some injured to her shins and she has given up playing netball for the past 3 years.
